Last time winter finally kicked in and started taking it’s toll

After having New Years Day off in Cgy, off to the Okanogan...4wd is awesome for winter .

These loads are sorta retarded....HAVE to pick the load up at a specific time and HAVE to deliver to the stores at specific times...thing is that the times don’t work with each other....so here I am parking 1hr away from my 1st delivery at 4pm to sleep so I can wake up at midnite and then deliver, cuz if I got to the first store in 1hr, they wouldn’t take it.





I delivered to the 3 stores and now goin back to Cgy empty...this idiot lost control goin uphill ,but remember, 4wd is awesome for winter.





Goin thru Saskatchewan...there has been incidents of vehicles rear ending snowplows, so now there are pilot cars behind them with SUPER bright lighting to protect them .

Always a problem getting annual permits for the trucks, they get sent to HQ, but I’m nevar there, so they try to send them to where yer gonna be, it just nevar works. This time I actually made it to HQ and guess what, the needed permits weren’t there .





So I just informed the person I’m sposed to inform when there is an issue and asked what their solution to this issue was, and get this for an answer .





So I try again to ask the obvious question.

After delivering in Trail, BC I want to make this left to leave Castlegar, BC, but I can see a tanker stuck on the hill and the driver throwing his chains on...it’s smarter for me to wait here on the flat road blocking the left turning lane versus goin up the hill and then being blocked by him and THEN having to get started on the slippery hill and be in his way if he needs to roll backwards a bit, and it’s not like anyone else that wants to turn left is gonna get by him anyways....but the faggot in the white car didn’t like waiting behind me so went around my left side and up the hill, and guess what?? He can’t get by the tanker and now HE is spinning his wheels too and is stuck...





Five minutes later, faggot in the white car back all the way down the hill, but now this guy in the TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING truck had to go around me too, and is now stuck ...loader is widening the road for others to get by the tanker...he tried a pair of chains, all it did was spin...so he’s throwing another pair on, he should be rolling within 10mins...

A city vehicle has shown up to block anyone from trying to go up the hill ...





After waiting at the bottom for 15mins, tanker is making slow climb up the hill.

Delivered the rest of my Okanogan stores but had to stop here in Merritt, BC as the road to Vcr is closed cuz of accidents.

The new jugs to hold the bags of milk now come with cutters to slice the bags .





And walking back to the truckstop....they were doing “ be careful walking in the parking lot” announcements every 5 mins over the intercom in the Walmart, .





After a 24hr delay in Merritt waiting for open road, rollin into the lower mainland...





Goin back to Cgy...was watching a helicopter do some work on the telecom towers up on the ridge, never noticed the towers up there before .

I’m trying to deliver a Starbucks shipment to the warehouse, but the address on the ppwrk and booking doesn’t make any sense , its a residential area....bottom of picture....simple google query learned me that Unisource is their supply chain partner and the switching of the street and avenue is the issue, Unisource is up by the airport.





Letting them know to change the addy in the computer so we actually can find the place.

Woke up covered in snow.





Stopped for fuel and my reefer is spewing oil....





But the oil level was fine ...shop had me run it for an hour and re-check...level hadn’t changed so they let me continue and it was fine for the next 4hrs til I got to the Vcr yard.

To the right of my A-pillar you can see the truck frame and exhaust, but the entire cab and sleeper are torn off.

Truck went off the road here, wrecker is guarding the load.

15 mins down the mountain, no moar winter.

Weird to have the road so empty...but at that overpass ahead, oncoming traffic is detoured to that overpass and around the washouts.





Truck drove off the road on this treacherous straight stretch into the ditch .








Dropped the trl in the yard and grabbed a new one to head back to Calgary, ran into a traffic backup and this wise guy tried taking the frontage road to get around it, except the frontage road just dead ends at a farm .





The greyhound behind me stuck himself into the other lane to stop the creepers from passing everyone in the single file for the merge point .





The traffic control truck is broked down, getting towed .

Got up @ 1am, drove 4hrs to here, road ahead is closed cuz of avalanches, so steak burrito for breakfast .





Proper fucked as far as road closures are considered , hwy 1 has several avalanches to deal with, and the detour (hwy 5) is travel not advised due to freezing rain, travel advisory to me means ROAD CLOSED.





I’m in the red rectangle, and the red road is what is closed.





If the closest part of closed were to open, I could detour thru the yellow.





As the hours wore on, the yellow road also had avalanches and closed as well .





Idiot at HQ sends out a closure/detour notice....umm, the road is closed BEFORE you get to the detour .





Bored, so started looking at the free cars for sale paper...thinking aboot a Ford Expedition or similar, the Cherokee isn’t really big enough for the new doggahs.

Its a National Park, speed limit is 55mph, lotsa spots for 45 and 35...NOBODY slows down, the spots that are slower are INFESTED with animals, hence the speed reduction....some fuck plowed thru a pack of sheep on the road and killed 4 of them .





My door lock was frozed closed so I couldn’t latch the door to sleep, so used tarp straps to keep it closed while I slept and waited for the shop to open in the am for them to fix it .

We have to blindside back into this dock at Westbank, BC Walmart....someone didn’t know what they were doin and backed the trailer into the wall...I was afraid to ask, but sure enough it was a that did it.

This intersection is a pain in the ass...2 separate sets of RR tracks, 3 in total, so you cant get to the mouth of the intersection or your trailer hangs over the tracks, so they have 2 sets of lights, so I stop on red here, then all the cars go around me, THROUGH THE REDLIGHT across the tracks to the next red light.





There’s a cop hiding in the shadows there catching ppl doing that , which obviously theyre not sposed to do, its a fucking redlight.

It had been very snowy for the last couple hrs, I couldn’t see the taillights of the truck in front of me, so I was concerned aboot the guy behind me not seeing my taillights, so when I had enough of a lead on him, found a spot to pullover to clear the taillights...when I clutched in to downshift, I lost my clutch ...as in the pedal seized and there was no pressure one could apply to it for it to move...similar thing happened in OKC last yr, so it seemed like the air assist on the clutch packed it in...was able to start it in gear, and rev it up, but there’s no connection between the motor and transmission, so Im fucked .





No cell service here...and my satellite isn’t working either, Im shaded by the mountains.

Got towed back to Kamloops, 3hr trip, driver dropped me off right in front of my hotel...I was thinking it was gonna take ~4days to get fixed and I’m only 3hrs away from my house, so was figuring on just goin there to sit and wait vs the hotel, though I was excited aboot there being a White Spot across the street, hadn’t eaten there for years ...but they had a truck in Vcr for me and a driver picked me up and took me to Vcr...he was interesting, dude from Yugoslavia came over with nothing, ended up sponsored 1hr away from where I currently live and currently lives where I grew up, wife, 2 kids, house and 2 cars...bootstraps, son.





When I got to Vcr I moved into a different truck and took off for Cgy...Silly got high sided trying to pull into this parking lot...wrecker is off to the left pulling him out.





As I was getting in position to get a good pic of the festivities, I noticed some movement, there’s half dozen deer lying down in the dark.

Get a warning aboot the road being closed, so call the road reports to find if a detour works...





And find out that Hwy 5 isnt closed, Hwy 5a is closed, which technically IS between the cities in the msg, but only a retard would be taking that route, its slower speeds, longer distance, narrower road, etc...so let the retard at HQ that sent the msg know that he is wrong to have sent it.

I got to the yard, trying to open the trunk, I bent the key and fucking panic went thru me , as the battery is in the trunk and I need to get in the trunk to get the car started as I has a battery disconnect...I gingerly got it out of the lock, gently turned it to unlock, then with pliers gently straightened the key enough to get into the ignition and drove the 5 miles to Home Depot to get new keys cut before the key broke completely.





On the drive to the house, I realized I forgot my camera bag....which has the spare battery and charger...

In the winter, this part of the driveway is a PITA...everyone that comes to visit, especially women, get stuck ...they get across the bridge and start the climb, then try to turn right (left from this vantage) to get up to the garage and lose all tracshun....all her sisters and friends that show up lose it...they all get told to park on the other side of the bridge and walk, and we’ll drive their vehicles up, but they get all uptight and try it themselves and fail.

Greenhouse goin thru its 1st winter.





It’s January so that means the septic line is frozen , so snowblowing a path to the cleanouts for the guy with the steamer to thaw out the lines....fucking snowblower is spewing oil...





Where the roof used to be over the basement door, had to take it down to build the new retaining wall, will put a new one up in the summer.





This path is gonna have to be good enough, snowblower is fucked, either the rings are gone or the carb is plugged cuz really watery oil is spewing out as its running...too cold to take it apart and fix it.





Snow came off the roof while I was on the road and took out the satellite dish (yellow) when the guy installed it couple yrs ago I axed him if that would be a problem and should I set up a snow break above it, he said it’d be fine...so when they came out to fix it, they put it in a new spot that should escape the avalanche next time .





My electrical usage has doubled in the last 10yrs , but it’s still only $35/month .





Its fucking cold outside....my boogers are frozed...how cold?

The top shelf in the closet has been droopy for the 12yrs I’ve owned the place, the weight finally collapsed the closet rod and sent it all to the ground .





The ironing is that I has plans to reno the closet to make it 4 rods and a center shelf unit, I just didn’t get to it ...its still in the plans and I still has the drawings AND sheet goods for what I want to do and itll cover the hole in the drywall so I’m not concerned aboot the hole right now and just slapped it back together until I actually get to the building of the new closet system.





In the truck my cell charger dangled down to the floor which was wet and it shorted/corroded out...





I’m cheap and tried to scrape it clean and soak it in electrical contact cleaner....no workie .





Its January and -30 outside, and getting a bag of fur like this off the doggahs every other week .
